Maison Raymonde
2023

A lovely old French house in a busy town visited in 2023 with Becci. Getting in was easy but getting out was the problem as the street outside was full of people so we had to wait patiently for a long time so no one would see us. Such are the joys of going inside these type of places.
Inside was really vintage looking, dark furniture and old fashioned decoration giving it a morbid feel which I like. Typical French wooden shutters always add a photogenic touch to a house. The kitchen was particularly photogenic with its large grandfather clock in the corner and vintage newspapers and personal items scattered loosely around.
The two bedrooms had the most decay with the wallpaper peeling from the walls and rot setting in to the walls themselves and ceilings.
Several letters were addressed to Mademoiselle Raymonde Vieren indicating this lady was unmarried and was the last person to live in this house unless she was previously married and assumed the title Mademoiselle after becoming a widow or divorce.
I enjoyed this house and discovering what it was hiding inside, a welcome addition to our summer 2023 tour across France.
